I am now waiting for A Scanner Darkly on DVD, which is an animated sci-fi film set in the future, directed by Richard Linklater. Another indie film, though not "true indie."

Mm, I'm a foreign horror lover, though. I just watched Ju-On 2 not so long ago.. I heard there was a third, so I'm anticipating that. I hear it's awesome (The Grudge will never do Ju-On justice). I can never remember the names of all the movies I mean to see, though. xD I go on movie binges at the rental store and raid the foreign section.

I love Asian horror too. I first rented Three Extremes (the first one is much better than the second) and it was so unique and creepy in ways that North American filmmakers don't seem capable. I also really enjoyed the movie Two Sisters...very creepy. I hear there's a movie about an actual event in Japan when someone reported that a suicide cult had formed (which was a lie) and suddenly, there were new suicide cults in Japan.

There's also supposed to be a new release of some movie that my cold raddled brain cannot access right now by a Korean director which sent even caused convultions in some viewers. I'll look at EW when I get home and post the name. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

But I just saw this post and had to respond. I love Linklater's movies and I too am looking forward to A Scanner Darkly. I think it comes out next Tuesday.

Pulp Fiction was a really ground breaking movie when it came out and I loved it. Resevoir Dogs is one of the most violent and brutal movies out there. I enjoyed it a lot but don't think I'd want to watch it again. Haven't seen the other two. Let us know if you like them.

Good stuff, that's a great movie.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing 300. I'm gonna give Borat a look at in a few minutes.

The DVD for Borat comes out tomorrow and I am planning on getting it. As well, I am going to see the movie "300" probably on Saturday night after my work. Have a special invitation from friends to go.

IF YOU DONT WANT TO SEE SPOILERS ABOUT PANS LABYRINTH THEN DONT READ THE REST OF THIS.

Aw man. I'm never goin to go see a spanish movie ever again. Last time i saw a spanish movie it was just as wierd and stupid (and brutal). Almost everything was random and stupid or Im stupid and dont understand anything about the movie. Remember the faun told Ofelia that she had to complete three tasks to prove that she wasn't mortal? Well the first two tasks led her to simply getting a knife to sacrifice blood for the final task am I right? Then in the end she gets shot and the knife does nothing but sit there which makes the first two tasks completely irrelevant. And why did the wierd root thingy under the bed keep the mom healthy, and why did it need blood?

Oh, and why did Ofelia have a certain time limit when she entered the place with the child eater? And what was with her story about the immortal rose, that had no relevance to the story in any way whatsoever? And how come the captain got sliced all the way down his lung and stabbed in the chest and stood up while covering his mouth wound goin "ow my mouth hurts"...like, wtf dude.

And what about the beginning where the girl finds the eye on the ground and puts it in the statue and the bug comes out randomly.

Man i dont know about you guys but i think this movie sucked. Even though it had good acting and awesome animations and special effects. I just didn't like it. Too bad too, i thought it was goin to be good.

She got the knife to sacrifice the blood but the actual task was for her to sacrifice her own blood. She could have USED the knife but she's like 8 and didn't think about that. Instead she got shot and her blood was sacrificed anyway. Thus the first two tasks were not irrelevant.

The root thing was a Mandrake root, it kept her mom healthy because it was magical, or something like that.

The time limit could be that she had only a certain time and then the child eating thing would come alive (Even if she didn't eat anything) but I'm not sure. And the story had no relevance, she was just telling it to her little brother. And he didn't get sliced down his lung he got stabbed in the back, specifically in the shoulder blade and then she dug down and tore the knife out. He was covering his mouth because he probablly couldn't reach behind to hold his back.

The movie itself had a lot to do with imagination. You can think that everything was all in her head and dislike the movie or you can think that she was actually who the faun said she was and everything was real. It's up to you.

I didn't read the discussion of Pan's Labyrinth because I plan to see it when it comes out on DVD. Then, we should talk about it, Chev. Many of my grade 12's hated The Prestige until we watched it together and discussed the things they didn't understand. It doesn't mean you're stupid, just young.

I cannot wait to see Children of Men and it comes out on DVD later this month. Woohoo!!!! And I am also looking forward to seeing Casino Royale.
