Ok I'm a lil confused about the symbol that keeps popping up on Nikki mostly and in other scenes. Does it symbolize the genetic code that makes them Heroes? or ist the symbol of the organization that Mr Bennet is working for?

It hasn't been explained yet, or even really hinted at. I do think it has more to do with Mohinder's father's research, rather than Mr. Bennet's organization. When Mohinder was scrolling through the genetic code details on the computer screen the symbol was imprinted in the there. Maybe it has to do with genes that are missing rather than genes that are actually there.

It hasn't appeared on any of the other heroes except Nikki, which is interesting, because I do think it will eventually characterize all the heroes. Maybe they are just showing us it on Jessica to make it easier to distinguish the two, but I doubt it. Maybe it is some sort of branding that the organization uses? When they find a hero, they mark him or her? Since Jessica is the only one to exhibit powers, then she'd have been the one found and marked, not Nikki.

I never really noticed the symbol anywhere else but on Jessica, but I am curious to learn it's significance.

So many unanswered questions! Think

Right! I'm sure that those marks can be found on other heroes that Mr Bennett has detained. I'm thinking that his organization probably had to insert some sort of tracking device or inject something to enhance their abilities and keep an eye on them...

The symbol is a single helix. And I think it also appeared on the back cover or Dr. Suresh's book. And in other places. I'm not sure what it will end up being, but it probably represents the gene which is, in the words of Sylar, "broken." The one that causes the mutations.

I figured it had some importance because they keep on making a huge effort to point it out every time it appears in a scene. It was getting a lil annoying seeing it and not knowing what it meant. Rolling Eyes

why would the mark only be noticeable on the book cover and jessica then, if it represents the broken gene? because then, since all the heroes have an ability, would they not have to be associated to the symbol in some way for it to hold some relevance? Razz

Don't forget the Haitian also has a necklace of it! It must have something to do with the genetics of superpowers.

Wow I didn't see Haitian guy's necklace. But that kind of puts a whole new twist on things. You know maybe the marks on Ted and Matt aren't the symbols after all. The Haitian and Jessica are probably the people we know least about. Maybe Jessica's symbol is a tattoo and not some wierd genetic thing, while the Haitian's necklace represents the same thing. This sounds a bit wierd but maybe the Haitian and Jessica are connected somehow and are part of a cult or something. Maybe not a cult but definetly connected somehow.

I think the idea of the developing helix is most believable. Matt and Radioactive dude both have yet to gain control of their powers, therefore their powers are developing, and thus their genes are developing. It makes sense that the helix would be forming as they go along.

I have one problem: why do Matt and Radioactive man have the symbol on their necks, and Nikki's on her back? Does this make a specific pairing? Is it HRG's method of tagging them?

Yeah, I thought the marks on Matt and radioactive man were because they had been tagged by HRG. And I really like the idea about the developing helix, because those two characters have really seemed to have control over their abilities, whilst the rest are still figuring out what they are capable of doing and learning how to manage it all.
