"I think that BS's thoughts on the matter were extremely well thought out."
Thank you Zyro. Now, if I could just think through my finances that well...
Yes, I am a superhero geek with the potential to spread embarrassment to all those who know me. I'm not quite at the leve of say, Comic-Book Guy from the Simpsons, but I have thought rather foolishly large amounts of time away about the subject of superpowers. I even had an idea once for a superhero story of my own. It didn't even get off the drawing board, but I imagined comic books, video games, movies, a series, the whole works. However, I lacked the time, energy, and initiative to get it going.
My favorites are the Jedi Knights, Superman, Spiderman, Batman, He-Man, Buffy, Spike, & Angel, Neo and, more recently, Peter Petrelli and Hiro Nakamura! Superheroes always inspired me. I think if we let them, they encourage us to recognize and to use the talents we have, however meager they may seem to be to us.
Even the heroes I never watched or read as a kid, I still managed to learn minute amounts of info about from friends and the movies being made these last few years. Geeky though it may be, however, my knowledge of superhero lore did once play a major role in winning me and 3 friends $120 in a Kiwanis trivia tournament against about 80 other people. (I'm not kidding, either.) I was able to name the five varieties of Kryptonite and I can even remember what they do. Anyone here know 'em all? |

Wow. I have no idea what the five varieties are but that is very cool. My students and friends can tell you that I firmly believe that "Geeks rule the world!" and am proud to be one.
I think most of my superhero knowledge is about X-Men (loved X-Men: Evolution) and all of the characters in Buffy and Angel. Buffy and Spike are particular favourites of mine as is Illyria. Something in me died when Sarah Michelle Gellar decided not to do one final season of Buffy but the new comics have really filled an empty spot.
I also love the new Batman. He is a ninja which is very cool and I love how they have explained his athletic prowess using his ninja skills. I can't wait for the next movie. Oh and I also loved the Batman Beyond series which really let Bruce and Terry shine in their own ways.
I also love all the transformers from Beast Wars and Beast Machines (have about 150 action figures), especially Dinobot, Blackarachnia (duh), and Silverbolt. I've met most of the voice actors who brought them to life except, sadly, Venus Terzo who played my namesake.
I plan to raise my baby on a steady diet of Heroes, Buffy, Angel, both Beast series, Reboot, and X-Men: Evolution.
Hooray for the geeks of the world!!!! |

Green Kryptonite - Weakens and kills Superman
Red Kryptonite - Exercises random wierd effects on Superman
Blue Kryptonite - Counteracts red kryptonite's effects and weakens and kills Bizarro Superman
White Kryptonite - No effect on Superman; Destroys all plant life with which it comes into contact
Yellow/Gold Kryptonite - Drains Superman of his powers, leaving him an ordinary human being
As I recall, there were two other non-canon varieties, I believe they were Iridescent (rainbow) and Brown Kryptonite, but I don't remember what they do. |

Hah, I've come into this late, but here's my opinion on all of this.
Flying is certainly something I've thought long and hard about as a super power. If we're talking the speed at which Nathan/Peter can move (bare in mind I've only seen up to ep 17 so I might be missing out on something), or say that of Storm, Rogue (in the comics, but dunno if she's lost her flight as her powers have all changed again recently ) then you're talking a hell of a lot faster than flight by telekinesis. I personally love the idea of fast flight... I mean you could save loads of time and even fuel if you could move at speeds of 60+ mph... you wouldnt need a car at all. Telekinesis is pretty amazing, but it's a power that could definately be abused and I dunno whether I'd be able to resist that kind of power at times. I'm sure I would but if it were between proper flight and telekinesis I'd choose flight.
As for what I'd really love to have- the Power Cosmic, and while we're at it you can give me a flying surf board too The Silver Surfer is such a powerful character and I personally don't think there are many heroes that could defeat him, if any at all.
What I love about Heroes is that it seems to draw so much from Marvel comics, inparticular Spider-Man. There is huge amounts of influence from the phrase "With great power comes great responsibility." and one of the writers, Jeph Loeb, has written many comics including Spidey ones. Being a huge Spider-Man lover it's great to see it having such an affect on other people and forms of media beyond comics. |

I like the originality of some of the powers in the first season, like making people forget, radioactive powers, etc. Some of the powers i want to see next season are controling electicity muhahaha, being able to mold one's body (rubbery and stretchy), super speed, underwater breathing, the power to see what other people see. I cant think of any others but i think controling electricity will be a major one in season 2 one of my favourite powers too).
Oh i forgot also, the power to manipulate vibrations and frequencies to make sound. thats cool. |

I believe someone can already to that. I saw it in the comic somewhere (Something to do with Five years Gone) It was one of the guys working for Matt. |
