After watching the episodes something just didn't sit right with everything about Isaac being able to paint the future. I like the idea and the concept of his character, but the drug thing just never really stuck with me. So here I am, proposing a theory.
In Episode 4 when he shoots up, you see everything beginning to slow down and it starts getting slightly quieter. This could be because after he shot up his entire body is relaxing (Because the drug relaxes him now) and it allows him to tap into his power to see the future. Also, later on in the same episode we see Isaac painting but he doesn't have pupils/iris's. My theory is that when he shoots up his body goes completelly relaxed and then enters a sort of trance-like state and he can read the future and paint it. Being in a trance it would explain why he can't remember painting everything, because the drugs are the only thing that can get him into the trance he needs them to be able to remember anything. I think that eventually Isaac won't need the drugs and he'll be able to enter that trance-like state at will and remember the things he see's when he is in said state, making him even more valuable then he is now.

The fact that Isaac only paints the future when he's high is probably due to the fact that he was an addict before he learned of his superpower.
Many addicts have difficulty with relaxation, mental acuity, memory, and motor control when they "come down", withdraw from, or have a bad jones for their drug of choice; the drugs only affect his paintings because they affect *him*. Peter can do it around him without the drugs because Peter isn't an addict; he can relax enough on his own to do it.
Plus, it seems that after hanging out with Isaac for a longer period of time this time (when he saw the future before and drew stick figures, Peter had only briefly met Isaac), Peter not only gained his ability to see the future, but also his painting abilities; so perhaps Peter can absorb mundane talents as well as superpowers.
If Peter or someone can convince Isaac to get off the "horse", Isaac will probably be okay and be able to paint without them. |
