I haven't visited since you posted the name so this is my first opportunity Smile You have both chosen a name with a lot of power. It is certainly unusual, I don't know that I would go so far as to call it weird.
I hope it is a name he will be proud to bear.
I would worry about how other kids in the playground will react but as a teacher I am sure that you can handle that and have thought it through. There has been a pretty steady trend away from 'traditional' names for a couple of decades now - I am more in favour of your original choice than I am with the other trend to be different through unique spelling. (hope I don't offend anyone with that statement)
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

I love original names BA, and i think you picked an awesome one. If you actually say it in your head or out loud a few times it sounds like a really cool name. It makes me want to name my future kid(s) something neat and original.

Thanks hun. I know that no matter what, Lyric may be teased. I was teased even though I have a really normal name (Lisa) and there were always 3 Lisa's in every class. I became "Little Lisa" and got teased a lot for my size. My husband has an unusual name and never got teased for it but did for other things.

This little boy will be loved and protected as much as possible and taught to be confident and live through the adversity that life throws at everyone. *hugs*

Thanks so much!! And I think it goes well with our last name. I want him to be unique in every way and I don't want there to be 3 other students with the same name in his classes. I don't think that'll be a problem. But, since it is a fairly well known word and we are spelling it Lyric, teachers will be able to pronounce it and now there will be three LS's in my family. I used to put
LS2 (but high up like L squared) as the return address name on mail and now I can put LS3.

Anyway, I do need to go try to do some marking. Oh and I love your poll and I will be responding very soon with my thoughts and theories.

That was my first thought at first, hence me retracting from commenting, but the name has grown on me a lot and there is no doubt in my mind that you and your husband will be such excellent parents, and that he wont grow up a bitter person because of any teasing he may recieve! (And I don't just mean from his name Smile)

It's really funny but most people get really quiet when I tell them the name and then after a couple of days, they say it's had grown on them and they like it. I love it and am so glad that you guys like it. I plan to laminate a copy of the printout my husband made explaining the name, in a special font, so he can have it when he gets old enough to understand that we spent a lot of time carefully choosing a name with meaning to us. *hugs*
