Claire's Dad Good or Evil -- Part 2

After seeing the episode "Better Halves", it is clear that Claire's dad brought in fake "birth parents" to meet Claire. So, however much he may care about Claire, he obviously doesn't care enough to either deliver her true birth parents or tell her that they're dead, or whatever he needs to do to be honest. So far his only outwardly evil acts have been his abuse of MindEraser guy against other people (particularly in revenge against Brody the quarterback) and his repeated dishonesty (the fake birth parents, the fact that he knows about Claire's superpower, what he really does for a living, etc).

On the flip side, his reaction when Eden told him about the "Save The Cheerleader" message from Hiro to Peter was interesting. It was a reaction of horror, but what was he scared of: that someone will try and screw up his plans to kill or make a lab rat out of Claire, or that someone may be trying to hurt Claire? He is thus far suspect because of his meddling, but it may all end up being towards a good end(though my wife doesn't think so).
