January 19, 2007 - By now most comic book fans are familiar with the Heroes television show. The series, which was recently green-lit for a second season, crosses the globe as it tracks the lives of individuals blessed (or cursed) with extraordinary abilities. To the delight of fans, and those involved with the show, Heroes has become a smashing success and is one of the best-performing new television shows of 2006.
Each year the Television Critics Association holds a winter tour. This allows major television companies, from broadcast networks to cable channels, to hype their programming. Heroes was featured in a panel. The full Q&A with the producers and actors can be found here.
As each episode airs, NBC.com hosts a new online comic. These 5-page pieces explore various side stories and allow followers of the series to dive a little deeper into the mythology of the franchise. During the TCA's, creator and executive producer Tim Kring was asked about the possibility of collecting the online comics into a physical trade paperback. From the interview:
QUESTION: Mr. Kring, you have been doing some stories online with the artwork --
TIM KRING: Yeah. Online comic book. Yeah.
QUESTION: And there had been some talk about actually producing physical comic books as opposed to the online versions. Is that ever going to happen?
TIM KRING: I think we're working towards that. It takes, you know, a certain amount of pages to actually do it -- what they call a trade and so we're getting close to that -- that number of pages. These comic book installments have only been in five-page installments so it takes a while to get enough to really make it worthwhile. But yes, that's the expectation. |

That is really cool news. I've read a couple online but I don't get on the computer at home too much and my monitor at school sucks totally. I'd love to have the actual comic to read. |
