which of the powers would you want to have?

I honestly don't think I'd want to have any of them- they only seem to be leading to trouble. If I had to have one...perhaps flying? The invincible thing would also be interesting.

I'm waiting for the hero that can breathe underwater- I'd love to do that. And while we're on that topic, which power do you hope will be introduced into the show?

Most definitely flying for me...I just have this sort of fascination and appreciation for heights. It allows me to see the world from a brand new perspective!

And I like that power about underwater breathing. One power I would like to see introduced would probably be...super speed! I've just got Smallville in my mind at the moment Razz

You know I've thought about it and I'd like to have super strength. If you think about it it's one of the most versatile powers. Besides throwing pple very far and lifting up cars you can jump miles at a time. Climb up poles or crevices by making massive amounts of friction from pushing hard. Running fast too with strong leg muscles you'd be able to run, not super fast but significantly faster than any other normal person. Also more athletic and fit people have more long capacity so you'd be able to hold your breath longer and swim much much faster than an ordinary person. I think super strength would be the neatest power to have.

I would also love to have Eden's power. I hope I would only use it for good but I also acknowledge that I might abuse it occasionally for personal gain.

I would love to be able to motivate some of my students who are very bright but only want to work on things they like and so appear not to be able to achieve in school. I know several (some who dropped out and some who are still in school); they just lack motivation not ability. So, I would tell them that they love doing schoolwork.

Oh and I think I'd have some "suggestions" for Bush and Harper and other politicians. What u think What u think What u think What u think

I think the best power would be Eden's, but let me explain why.

All the destructive powers, for example, destructive telekinesis like Ted Sprat and Gambit, or Superman's heat vision would be too dangerous. I wouldn't want the ability to destroy or burn things because I'd be too afraid of, well, destroying or burning something or someone that pissed me off.

Super strength. Quite useful, no doubts there, but not only is it also dangerous, it is limited to physical constraints.

Flying. Hmm...I'll explain in a moment why I wouldn't want that.

Invisibility. Yeah, that'd be kind of cool. But it would make interpersonal relationships a real bitch.

Invulnerability/Rapid self-healing. No doubt about it, this is a great one. But think about the possibility of continuous regeneration in defiance of aging and natural death; after 200 or 300 years, you'd probably just get bored. And, in the "Heroes" model, even Claire was incapacitated by the tree branch shoved up her brain, so decapitation would probably be a weakness even of invulnerability.

Teleportation, chronoteleportation, chronomanipulation, the bypassing of physical bonds. Hiro and D.L.'s powers are pretty cool. Especially Hiro's ability to change the speed of time, even to the point of stopping it altogether. The implications and complexities of time travel have already been discussed in other threads and need no further lucubration in this one. D.L.'s ability (I call it "passwall", a name used by an Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition wizard's spell with similar effects) would be very useful indeed, but not as good, I think, as Hiro's timestopping. Teleportation, once truly mastered, would be exceedingly useful and is almost as good, in my mind, as telekinesis. The problem is, learning to master teleportation would be dangerous; one could potentially be subject to the limitations mentioned by Nightcrawler in X-Men 2.

Telekinesis. Jean Gray and Sylar both show exceptional uses of this power. This is a close second for me. And by the way, with particularly powerful telekinetic ability, is not the ability to fly implicit? Take Sylar's telekinetic power: it obviously exceeds his physical ability to manipulate objects. I mean, a man of his modest physique could not simply tear locked locker doors off their hinges with his bare hands and throw them 50 feet down a hallway with the speed and accuracy he did, and it is exceedingly difficult to incise the skin as thoroughly and accurately as he did to Jackie with one's physical instruments alone. Therefore, telekinetically levitating and propelling himself through the air should be possible, making flying moot.

Mind Control/Psychokinesis. Professor Xavier, Eden McCain, Robert Modell (the "pusher" from X-Files), and Andy McGee(the dad from "Firestarter"). While it is true that all these people died despite mind control powers, think what they did accomplish in spite of the exceptional circumstances they encountered. The trick Professor X did at the beginning of X2 in museum scene, where he basically mind-blasted an entire roomful of people EXCEPT the mutant students, was unbelievably cool. The basic problem that Modell and McGee ran into was that they ran afoul of foes who happened to have exceptional mental clarity and they underestimated them. Eden was a great loss, no doubt. However, she did what she did because she recognized the unimaginable danger in Sylar acquiring her power. Furthermore, she also underestimated his ability.

The thing that really disappoints me about her was her and HRG's deference to their superiors in the matter of forcing Sylar to commit suicide. I am not in favor of suicide or murder, but I believe you have to protect the greatest number of people; getting rid of a killer with superpowers requires extreme measures.

But the thing to remember with any superpower is that the most difficult and dangerous aspect is the human failings we all are subject to at one time or another in our lives. That's what I love about "Heroes" is that they show the human aspect of the equation and all the problems it creates for someone with superpowers.

I agree with your assessment of the pro's and con's of the various powers. And I also think that Eden's sacrifice was necessary although very very sad. I think she was so right about not keeping Sylar alive but I also think that Linderman is the man behind the "organization." And if I'm right, there is no way that he will want to let Sylar go until he finds out how to harness his abilities for himself.

Perhaps they hope to be able to force Sylar to be good. I would like to think that's the case, but I think keeping him captive and drugged against his will has probably ruined any chance of their being able to do that, given his self-centered world view.

I don't think I'd like Claude's just because I'd be too likely to get caught since I can't hold still or be quiet for very long. Hiro's would rock but also, would freak me out since I believe that time travel will inevitably lead to a rift in the space time continuum and the destruction of the universe. But, then again, I'm a little crazy.

A little crazy? Eh? Think

I think that BS's thoughts on the matter were extremely well thought out. I myself would prefer telekinesis as my personal power. Like you said, the ability to rip things like car doors off and hurl them at each other with accuracy, could make daily life even easily then it already was. Plus, the flying thing seemed plausable, just levitate yourself and move you, might be a little slower then flying but it's the same thing basically.
