| Currently I'm reading the Resident Evil series (call me a fanatic but I really like this series) and I just bought the third book, I haven't really had time to read it yet but I'm sure I will tomorrow or Monday :3 |

I've been reading George Orwell's 1984, even though I know that if you're in BA's English 12 class next year, you're gonna read it. Still, I wanted to read it once first and saw it at Value Village for a buck, so I bought it  and still have not finished, simply because the only time I happen to read nowadays is during silent reading. I'm almost done though! |

Over the holidays I finised reading John Irving's new book Until I Find You. It was very long but had a big twist and I really enjoyed it. (I did my Masters Thesis on his early novels and he was once my favorite author.)
Now I'm reading a very unique and often disturbing book called Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. It was a birthday gift from one of our members who volunteers in my classes (she is well on her way to becoming a great English teacher). It is about what it was like to be a woman growing up in 19th century China. Often brutal but always interesting. |

It was about a man who thinks his father was a womanizer who deserted his mother and then never wanted to be a part of his life. His mother is a tattoo artist and they travel around the world; the man becomes an actor and later embarks on a journey to find out who his father really was and who he has become. It is his way of really getting to know himself too since he feels like all he ever does is act and play characters and has no idea who he himself is.
Oh yeah...1984 is an amazing book. I've known people who say it changed their lives when they read it and reading it with students every year has kept is fresh and alive. And it is more relevant at this time in history than probably ever before. I hope you enjoy it, melas. It can be very dense and political which is why when I teach it, we read it together and aloud. It also inspired the graphic novel, V for Vendetta, one of my favourite movies the last few years. |

Cool, it sounds good, but probably something I wouldn't read though >.<

really? I didn't know V for Vendetta was based off the the book 1984. I still haven't seen that movie yet  |

I've finished reading 1984, and I do agree, it is quite dense. I think it'll take me a couple more read throughs for me to properly absorb it all, but overall I really liked it. Now I've started reading a book called Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, and I really quite enjoy the dry and sarcastic humour of the protagonist. So far the story is going quite well and I'm enjoying it  |

| I read the Harry Potter series currently. Since theres no new books till July(the 7th and final one), I just read them over and over again before I go to sleep. But J.K. Rowling has made her stories kinda worse, with all the people dying. Saying that though, i have no right to criticize her, because i dont own the series. |

shes been killing people off, because its pure evil that they're dealing with, and it also helps character development
im currently reading Eragon... i love fantasy!! |

I enjoy his novels also.
Okay...if you like SciFi and if you can imagine a future in which humans have decided that the earth is so damaged that we need an alternative and so, they have found a way to upload themselves into a computer construct of the earth, but perfect, undamaged, and given up their bodies forever, you will love the two following novels:

Circuit of Heaven
End of Days
I read them years ago and just reread them. They are very well written with well developed characters and have a haunting quality that stays with you. I loved them so much that I went to the public library to get his latest, The Fourth World which was also captivating and thought provoking and incredibly moving. I love his writing and can only hope he'll publish a now one seen. |

I've just started reading a book called Manifesto. It's an anonymous book that was published by "dedreabbit International Artist Collectives". It's a very odd book, not so much a story as kind of reflection of life. It's really good, I found a flier that your supposed to hand around advertising the book. It had a few good quotes on it.
"EQUAL ACCESS TO ALL
FAIRNESS TO THE SHITTY WORLD"
&&
"EVERY fracker DESERVES A MILLION CHANCES"
It seems like an interesting book so far. And I'm going to be reading Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk after my friends finished reading it. |
