I just got vista a few day ago, and its a part of the reason i have not been on the forum lately. the other reason is that iam filming a short right now.
So far what i have seen of vista, i have to say that its a great OS, thought it lacks drivers right now.
some of the key tools i use every day do not work yet. but the User Interface looks sweet.
has any one else tried Vista yet
Note: iam back to XP cause of the camera driver problem... P2 Cards done like Vista |

| I'm waiting for a good year or so til I get Vista. So far, Windows XP is working great for me. I may upgrade in that timeframe. |

| I've put off getting a new computer for about a year for reasons that you will understand soon. So, I'm not going to upgrade since I'm sure my system would have a difficult time. And I keep seeing commercials that tell me I should be saying "Wow!" about Vista but with no specific info anywhere I've looked. So, what makes it so great. |

It's apparently makes games run better and some area of media. I remember watching something about the differences with the "new Windows Vista". I still like WinXP, as it does the job too. I also upgraded my computer so far and it's doing all my job(s) that I want straight up from XP. Vista may come later, but for sure I'm in no rush. If I do buy a newer version of Microsoft (other than windows), it would have to be Office.
EDIT: I also forgot that the requirements for Vista is huge as well. It's like you need a minimum of 2-3GB of space just to install Windows itself and other options to add on later will raise the bar up more. |

My husband is standing here and wants me to ask:
What is the single biggest improvement in Vista over XP? He wants to want Vista but hasn't seen any reason to just yet. |

A friend of mine just gave me a magazine with 10 reasons not to upgrade yet. i will list them later. (have to find it again)
The biggest improvement right now is aroe. its the new User interface system. which take all the Interface's CPU usage and moves it to the Graphics card freeing a ton of CPU. Thought most programs people use that are not build by Microsoft (iTunes being one of them) shuts aroe down pushing every thing interface related back to the CPU.
So basically heres what i would do, Wait to upgrade or buy a new PC for at least 6 months for drivers and programs to catch up. by then most if not all Programs will be Vista compatibles.
Untill then Be a happy XP user like me and dont bother with Vista. iam not
(Did not activate my Vista ) |

If you wish to read more on each subject, just ask.
1.Vista requires a fairly powerful machine
2.Application incompatibilities
3.Vista is Crazy expensive - Not really true. XP cost the same.
3a. Upgrade to Ultimate cost 250 CND | Premium cost 150 CND??
4. No Hardware Audio - AKA DirectSound 3D
5. Vista doesn't work with a lot of bleeding-edge hardware
6. Vista doesn't work well with some games - Any game with punkbuster
7. Vista includes consumer-unfriendly DRM - I HATE this one
8. Poor Driver support
9. Vista is kind of annoying
10. You can wait
Those are all heading for a little info on Vista in the artical. |

If I were to release Vista, I would at least get some drivers on the disk and have other companies update their drivers to be compatible with it - THEN release the software. I guess that Microsoft Corp. likes to add change to their windows interface. Eventually, everything is going to become fast and they would like to put more things on computer than what we have today (i.e. watching TV better or something).
My two cents that is. |
