Although I've been distancing myself lately from FFXI, I still love the game. The mechanics are amazing, the graphics are by far the best in any MMORPG (makes WoW look very very cartoonish) and it is a very challenging game (because it is Japanese). If you can avoid the personal conflicts, which I'm finding you can if you don't care, it is an amazing experience and lifestyle.
I do think that SE made a huge mistake in releasing FFXII as a PS2 exclusive. I know many people like me whose PS2's have died and who now have XBox360's (lured in initially by FFXI) who would love to play and that is a huge wasted market. Hopefully they won't make the same mistake with 13! |

Hmmm, I half agree with you and half don't with that statement. On one hand, like you said, they've wasted a market oppurtunity but you have to realise they started creating the game in 2002 (or possible 2003), it's been in development for a long time and it probably wasn't something that was on the cards during development due to a) not having 360 hardware to produce the game on and b) the system being really early in development (bare in mind around 2003 the original Xbox had just landed on it's feet really). In that respect, porting the game over would probably take a long time and not do the game justice, remember FFXI was so easily ported to 360 due to it already being out on PC. Lastly 360 has sold very little in Japan, although it may increase sales slightly, the market probably would have been really low anyway.
*Phew* heh, so as for the game itself, well I'm only about 3 or 4 hours in and I must say, this game is HUGE. There seems to be so very much to do already and I am extremely impressed so far. |

You're right about the timeline. I guess I should have said XBox. And FXII was based on the battle system and the job system of FFXI and meant to be an offline version and that's why it's so huge. After 2 1/2 years playing FFXI, there are still many things I haven't done and not just boring stuff either.
And I know that originally, rumors had it that FFXIII was going to be a PS3 exclusive, but now many people believe that most of the PS3 exclusives will not remain so since there is such a small market and the 360 is coming into its own. So, I look forward to playing XIII! |

Well we'll see. I'd love for it to be true, being a 360 owner myself theres only a few PS3 titles I want that are planned, and if the likes of MGS4 and FFXIII were multiplatform it would be pretty handy. I personally like console exclusives though, narrow gaming markets mean there's a bigger competition for your money and it makes for lots of good stuff. Aswell as the gaming aspect where more really good games are made to compete between consoles, there is the cost aspect as well. More competition = lower prices, simple as. So even if we 360 owners don't get FFXIII, I'll most likely support Sony and SquareEnix in a few years time by actually buying a PS3 and XIII. Ok, you got me, I;m a sucker for consoles and games, but thats part of the fun
As for XII, although a lot of ideas seem inspired by XI, it's a hell of a lot different in many, many aspects. From my point of view its taken the better parts of the game, added what seems to be some kick ass characters and story telling and set it in a different world altogther. To say it's basically XI offline does not do either game justice, especially XII. Sorry, sounds like I'm being a fan boy for XII, but I can see where you can get that idea from, I just personally think that like all FF games before it, this one is very individual. |

I'm a pretty big Final Fantasy fan (have been since day one) and although the latest few Final Fantasy's haven't been up to par with earlier games in the series I still continue to play them, unless they're absolutely terrible *cough*FFX-2*cough*, or they aren't even true Final Fantasy games to begin with (FFXI I'm looking directly at you).
I've played Final Fantasy I all the way to X-2, except Final Fantasy III because it was JUST re-released stateside on the DS so this is the first chance I'll get to play it. I've finished every Final Fantasy except for I, II and III.
As for my favourites? Well I guess I may as well do a top 5:
5. Final Fantasy VII
4. Final Fantasy VIII
3. Final Fantasy X
2. Final Fantasy IV
1. Final Fantasy VI
I'm of the firm belief that FF VI is and always will be the standard to which all other RPGs should be judged against (Chrono Trigger too because it was abolsutely fantastic). And I'll cry if we ever see a FF VII remake before a VI remake.
Having said that I can't wait to dig into Final Fantasy XII. |

Well I've been having this craze for Final Fantasy for a long time so I went out and bought FF 1 , 2, 4,5,6 and Chrono Crusade. Also I would so recommend the legend of dragoon |

I just played Final Fantasy XII last weekend... It was alittle weird, of What I've played it doesn't seem very fun... but that could be because I'm not use to the game play... I just think it's weird how the battles work |

| The battle system is really deep when you get into, and very versatile. I bet that if I played through it from the beginning up to where I am now, I would have had a completely different experience with the battle system and characters. Plus the License board is the best thing since Materia imo. |
