Just rewatched "Hiro's" again and I am really disgusted by what Matt did to his wife. Using his abilities to read her mind and manipulate her to solidify their relationship was one of the worst violations I can imagine. What is she going to do when she finds out about his abilites...which she inevitably will.
In some ways, I think this is worse than Claire driving the car into the wall or Niki's alter ego sleeping with Nathan.
It reminded me of when Willow used her ability to change Tara's memories. How much worse can it get than to violate the sanctity of someone's mind. |

I, actually, am not at all interested about Matt's relationship with his wife. That is the only aspect of the show that bores me. I could care less if they stay married or get a divorce.
I rooted audibly for Claire when she drove the quarterback's car into the wall. If I were in her shoes and had her ability, I probably would have done the exact same thing. |

She probably will, but I don't blame him too much. For one thing, he seems unable to control his ability. For another, if I loved someone that much, I'd probably be desperate enough to do all that is within my power to keep them loving me - not thinking through all of the ramifications of my actions. Yes, it will come back to bite him in the butt, but I'm not angry with him for it. She will be however... |

Hey guys and gals, I just saw "Nothing To Hide" and feel the need to update this thread. It appears that Matt's wife has been running around on him with one of his co-workers. That was likely going on before he discovered his superpower.
I wonder if those who hated him for seducing his wife with his mind-reading ability still hate him so much. |

I for one never hated him. In some ways I'd love it if my man could read my mind. LOL
On the other hand, it could be a nasty situation on those PMS days...
I just thought his doing so would come back to bite him in the end. I think his wanting to make things good for her was his motive, so I didn't see it as a violation, per se. At this point, I don't think that he should continue to do it because he'd likely not be finding out anything with the same pure motives he had before. Make sense? |

| It does indeed make sense. And I felt the same way: the fact that he was doing it to make her happy was less bad. I guess that's why I felt uncomfortable with the comparisons that were drawn to when Willow affected Tara's memory on BTVS, since Willow did it tp make Tara forget that they had fought and had an unresolved issue with each other. |

| matt is one of my favourite character. Sure he violated her but what would you do in his situation if you could read peop0les minds would you not try to make your wife/husband happy. It just goes to show that everyone is human. I cant wait to see which hero he meets first. Some people say he has no point so far, but he does couse hes closer to sylar thatn anyone else and trying to stop him! |

Yeah I like Matt, too.
After Nothing to Hide, I felt even less bad about him reading his wife's mind. I really think he can only read thoughts when they are prevalent. Like in the convience store when all those people were freaking out. He couldn't hear them until they were shouting in their brains. Then he couldn't turn it off. Maybe that's why he could hear his wife's thoughts, cause she was screaming in her head. Also like when she thought she was getting caught in her affair. And his partner - he deserved much worse than a punch in the face. |

I was the one who was most angry with Matt. And I think the writers anticipated my anger and his discovery of her affair is his just desserts!! Be careful what you read in your spouse's mind; you might not like what you find there. Muhahahaha |
