We've seen plenty to imply he is evil...kidnapping others and either wiping or attempting to wipe their brains (i.e. the cop and the politician). He alwys acts weird about Claire, etc.
However, did you notice how he held back from shooting the politician when he clearly had a perfect shot at him? |

So far he is made out to be evil. However, he could turn out to be much more ambiguous. As I mentioned in my post on the episode "Hiro's", Horn Rimmed Man rightly punished the football-playing bastard who tried to rape Claire. But did the punishment fit the crime? Maybe and maybe not, but he used the super power of the Memory/Power Leech guy who hangs out with him and can erase memories to completely erase the kid's identity. It wasn't really even a punishment, when you get down to it; punishment should be used to correct bad behavior, and this was just undecorated revenge. It was disproportionate and ineffective as a punishment, because it won't guarantee that Brody will never try to do the same thing to someone else again. He just said the things he said to justify "hollowing out" Brody's mind.
As for Parkman and N. Petrelli, you're right: Horn Rims could have simply killed them both, but he didn't. So far it seems he is primarily gathering information about the superhumans, not actually trying to harm them or get rid of them. It is quite mysterious; the Memory/Power Leech guy is obviously used to prevent people from ever telling anyone about what happened to them in his little lab, but obviously it failed with Petrelli since he got away (and man, wasn't that flying bit AWESOME!). It makes me wonder whether he's trying to prevent the heroes from ever doing any good or if he simply wants to keep tabs on them in case any of them ever decide to actively do evil. |

| Unfortunatlly we shall not know until further into the season. HRG seems to be a mixed bag. On one hand he kidnapped Nathan and Matt and wiped Matt's memory of the lab, also the Memory/Power Leech guy "went deep" on him (If that's not sexual innuendo I dunno what is). Yet when Claire told him she was almost raped, did you see how pissed off he looked? I honestlly think he would have killed Brody right then and there if he had not restrained himself. I'm hoping we see more of a development with HRG as he's becoming intresting. |
